Pina Bausch revolutionized the world of performing arts with her unique form of dance theater. She combined movement, theater and everyday life in a way that is deeply moving and thought-provoking. I wanted to find out more about this - away from the temples of high culture and in the middle of the street.
The reason for this was the new murals - transformed international Pina dance works into murals - which were created as part of the Pina Bausch Gallery @wuppertal_tanzt.
It's a wonderful compilation of different perspectives on Pina and her work: street artists explain the murals and their connection to Pina, children from OGGS Hesselnsberg engage with the "Palermo Palermo" mural, homeowners and local residents talk about their experiences with the project, and people on the street share their knowledge about Pina with us. The whole thing leads to a nice exchange with our mentor and Member of Parliament Helge Lindh and our Head of Project Valentina.
It was important to us to get into conversation with people from Wuppertal, to discover new perspectives, to capture different opinions, to reminisce about special experiences or memories and to whet the appetite for Pina.
