MUSEUM, HOME AND PUBLIC SPACE
URBAN ART SPACE WUPPERTAL (UKW)
URBAN ART SPACE WUPPERTAL (UKW)
In the first three years, from 2023 to 2025, UKW will create its collection in the public space of the city of Wuppertal: 24 temporary international interventions will create something in the cityscape that makes Wuppertal recognizable and unique.
Here, local home is transformed into international wall art, home space is individualized, home customer is exported, international street art is imported, home city is pimped, home places are personalized, home places are facelifted, city space is finally transcended into exhibition space and one of the most democratic art forms is given a stage for the self-realization of art, city and man.
WUPPERTAL CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
24 neighborhoods are creatively taken along step by step in the implementation process by the museum, along the Wuppertal valley axis, at most in an extension 500m left and right of the B7, from Vohwinkel to Langerfeld-Mitte.
24 organizations can apply for a wall artwork in their neighborhood. The prerequisite is participation in our podcast "UKW - Mit Kunst Heimat gestalten" (UKW - Shaping Home with Art) to highlight what is special about each hood.
24 facades along the valley axis are being sought for the transformation of homeland feelings into international wall art. There are already walls, but we are looking forward to additional facades from the neighborhoods.
24 international street artists are invited to transform the peculiarities of the neighborhoods into wall art This process is accompanied by the workshops and neighbors with various actions.
