URBAN ART SPACE WUPPERTAL (UKW)
URBAN ART SPACE WUPPERTAL (UKW)
In the first three years, from 2023 to 2025, the UKW has created its collection in the public space of the city of Wuppertal: 34 temporary international interventions have created something in the cityscape that makes Wuppertal recognizable and unique.
Here, local Heimat was transformed into international WandKunst, HeimatRaum individualized, HeimatKunde exported, international StreetArt imported, HeimatStadt pimped, HeimatOrte personalized, WohnOrte facelifted, StadtRaum finally transcended into AusstellungsRaum and one of the most democratic art forms was given a stage for the self-realization of art, city and people.
WUPPERTAL CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

23 neighborhoods were creatively involved in the museum's implementation process, step by step, along the Wuppertal valley axis, extending a maximum of 500m to the left and right of the B7, from Vohwinkel-Mitte to Langerfeld-Mitte.

21 organizations can apply for a mural in their neighborhood. The prerequisite is participation in our podcast „UKW - Shaping Homeland with Art“ to highlight the unique aspects of each hood.

34 facades along the valley axis are sought for the transformation of homeland feelings into international mural art. Walls are already available, but we are looking forward to additional facades from the neighborhoods.

30 international street artists will be invited to transform the characteristics of the neighborhoods into wall art. This process will be accompanied by workshops and neighbors with various activities.
